End of an Era

On Sunday, we said goodbye to our beloved and dilapidated student building. After 12 years of being in portables, we are moving into 201. This building has served us well and I have many fond memories of it. Sure it smells of body odor, the floor is not leveled and we have lost more things in there than found, but man so many students entered that building and connected with god for the first time.
Here are some memories for me. Feel free to comment on your favorite memory
- two friends leading another to christ after 180 in the meeting room
- my car getting hit in the parking lot by students learning to drive
- numerous broken windows because we were playing silly games
- gritty, grimy, gross and slothfest in the back of the student center
- loads of bbqs and cookouts on the deck
- having to evacuate the building because of oncoming storms
- seniors sharing on stage on senior night
- crazy up front games where one of the students hurled into the garbage can
- lives changed
SEE YOU ALL ON DECEMBER 9 at 5pm. We're moving on up!

201 - our new home
after two years of dreaming, praying and countless meetings, we are down to the last few weeks.
we dream 201 will be a new third place for students all around plano and the surrounding cities to connect, gather, worship and have fun.
here are some pics:

seating booths on balcony

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR DECEMBER 9. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST NIGHT IN 201

Mr Jason Ganze
After much deliberation, an exhaustive nationwide search and who knows how many cups of coffee, we have invited Jason Ganze to join our Student Ministry team. Jason will essentially be the BGIC (big guy in charge) overseeing Journey and 180. You'll get a chance to meet him Sunday, Oct 14 at 180. If you haven't figured it out yet, he's the guy in the lion suit prancing around the dallas zoo.

Church As It Should Be

this really made me sick to my stomach as I googled on the web for crazy church signs. is this really what god had in mind when he called us to be the church. have you ever been on the receiving end or giving end where the idea of going to church or wanting to be a part of something was made so much more difficult by Christians? are we really that messed up that we put silly barriers so that people can't connect with the living God.
are we like what the bible says in Matthew 23:13 frauds? (13"I've had it with you! You're hopeless, you religion scholars, you Pharisees! Frauds! Your lives are roadblocks to God's kingdom. You refuse to enter, and won't let anyone else in either)
what is the church supposed to be? more than crazy signs i hope.
